Description

The Guidelines for WMO Evaluation of Records of Weather and Climate Extremes is a living document which describes the Record evaluation and verification process, its initiation, organization and related committees leading the evaluations work and decision making on declaring a new Record or decommissioning an old one. The document also describes the scientific and measurement challenges and the underlaying WMO and international technical standards and references. The document also highlights the importance of collaboration with various WMO entities, NMHSs, and other international institutions and scientists, throughout the process. Recommendation on communicating information on the Record evaluation results is also provided in these guidelines.
